What Are Cookies?

We use cookies, pixels, and other technologies (collectively, "cookies") to recognise your browser or device, learn more about your interests, and provide you with essential features and services and for additional purposes.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Recognising you when you sign in to use our services. This allows us to provide you with personalised property recommendations, display tailored content, and provide other customised features and services.
  • Keeping track of your specified preferences. This allows us to honour your preferences, such as whether or not you would like to see interest-based ads. You may set your preferences through Your Account.
  • Keeping track of properties saved in your favourites or booking list.
  • Conducting research and diagnostics to improve Rentings' content, platform, and services.
  • Preventing fraudulent activity.
  • Improving security.
  • Delivering content, including ads, relevant to your interests on Rentings' sites and third-party sites (see our Interest-Based Ads notice for how we use cookies in serving interest-based ads).
  • Reporting. This allows us to measure and analyse the performance of our services.

Essential Features

Rentings' cookies allow you to take advantage of some of our essential features. For instance, if you block or otherwise reject our cookies, you will not be able to save properties to your favourites, proceed to booking, or use any Rentings services that require you to sign in.

Third-Party Cookies

Approved third parties may also set cookies when you interact with Rentings' services. Third parties include search engines, providers of measurement and analytics services, social media networks, and advertising companies. Third parties use cookies in the process of delivering content, including ads relevant to your interests, to measure the effectiveness of their ads, and to perform services on behalf of Rentings.

Managing Your Cookies

You can manage browser cookies through your browser settings. The 'Help' feature on most browsers will tell you how to:

  • Prevent your browser from accepting new cookies
  • Have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie
  • Block cookies
  • Know when cookies will expire

If you block all cookies on your browser, neither we nor third parties will transfer cookies to your browser. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site, and some features and services may not work. Some mobile operating systems may further limit the use of cookies and similar technologies; your choices do not override those more limited settings on such mobile devices.

POPIA Compliance

We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) in South Africa, which governs the processing of personal information. Our use of cookies ensures that any personal information collected is handled in accordance with POPIA's principles, including lawfulness, transparency, and purpose limitation. For more information about how we collect, use, and protect your personal information, please see our Privacy Notice.
